Event Description Approximately 300 middle and high school students from Weld and Larimer counties will compete in the 43rd annual Longs Peak Science and Engineering Fair today. The all-day event in will open for free public viewing at 5:15 p.m. after judging of projects has been completed. Parking is free in adjacent UNC lots after 5 p.m.
Students will present individual or team projects in one of 11 categories included in the fair's junior (fifth- through eighth-graders) and senior (ninth- through 12-th graders) divisions.
Categories to be judged are animal sciences, behavioral and social sciences, chemistry, earth and planetary sciences, energy and transportation, engineering, environmental sciences, math and computer sciences, medicine and health, microbiology, physics, and plant sciences.
The event, organized and hosted by UNC's Mathematics and Science Teaching Institute, is one of 13 regional fairs in the state.
