The Rice Project
Start Date: 3/14/2013Start Time: 6:00 PM
End Date: 3/14/2013End Time: 8:00 PM

Event Description:
The Rice Experience is a lesson born out of the desire to help people begin to grasp the incredible numbers of people who have suffered and perished due to acts of genocide, violence, disease, and torture around the world. Educator and high school history teacher Mrs. Heidi Rickard, created the lesson in 2007 and it is designed to provide an experience that allows the audience, through an analogy, to hear about these events and put them into perspective.

Mrs. Rickard will present, using over 600 pounds of rice, the display of grains that represent the number of people that have been lost in various genocides and conflicts around the world throughout the past 100 years. The UNC community is invited to hear from this amazing speaker and be apart of the movement to end genocides and violent conflicts.
